San Jose, Calif. — February 22, 2005 — Ascendent Systems, a leading developer of advanced voice and messaging solutions, today announced that Silicon Valley veteran Debbie Miller has joined the company as chief executive officer.
Miller brings a strong and varied background in the technology sector to Ascendent, driving both industry giants and emerging start-ups. Miller has held key executive positions with IBM, DEC and Silicon Graphics, and most recently Miller has helped several technology start-ups achieve success including Maranti, Egenera, 2Bridge Software and portal play CoVia.
In her role as CEO, Miller will focus on positioning the company for accelerated sales and revenue growth, and building and expanding business-partner relationships.

Miller joins Ascendent Systems Inc. with more than 30 years of global management experience in the high technology industry encompassing computing, software, networking, and telecommunications. She has held executive positions at IBM, Silicon Graphics, Digital Equipment, Maranti, Egenera, On Demand Software, and Covia. She serves on the boards of Libbey Glass, Sentinel Group Funds, and Wittenberg University. Miller holds a B.A. in political science and Asian studies from Wittenberg University.
