SAN JOSE, Calif. – November 15, 2005 – Ascendent Systems, a leading voice mobility solutions provider, today announced that its Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite features the extended presence capabilities of the Jabber Extensible Communications Platform (XCP). As part of the invitation-only Jabber, Inc. Strategic Technology Partner Program, Ascendent added a “click-to-call” application enabling Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite users to initiate calls and chats with individuals and groups from within Jabber XCP.
Through the Strategic Technology Partner Program, Ascendent and Jabber, Inc. are committed to joint development and marketing efforts around the presence-enabled features of the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite solution. Extended presence has emerged in the enterprise to represent a set of variables such as location, availability, capability, and role. Embedded within existing infrastructures such as the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite, presence data enables organizations to route the right information, to the right people, at the right time as part of a real-time architecture.
“By working with Jabber, Inc., Ascendent delivers enhanced presence functionality to The Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite customers,” said Theron Dodson, vice president of marketing at Ascendent Systems. “This key partnership makes strides in Ascendent’s goal to proliferate enterprise voice mobility with any device throughout businesses, universities, government, retail, and hospitals, among others – essentially all industries in which accessibility to employees directly affects daily operations.”
“Joining Jabber, Inc.’s Strategic Technology Partner Program underscores Ascendent’s commitment to ensuring mission-critical business continuity by advancing enterprise voice mobility,” said Rick Emery, vice president of business development at Jabber, Inc. “Ascendent is a member of the program because it is aggressively pursuing the development of interoperable, extensible, and flexible communications solutions for the market.”
The Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite converges wireless and wireline devices with single number reachability and consolidated voicemail allowing users to respond to customers and crises immediately, regardless of location or device. It extends the identity and functionality of the corporate deskphone (PBX) – such as conferencing, notification, hold, transfer, and enterprise dialtone – to any device a user chooses. The new presence integration, click-to-call, and click-to-conference applications allow users to initiate a phone conversation or a conference call with other users included on the enterprise Jabber XCP roster, which can be extended and federated with the rosters/directories of trusted trading partners. The click-to-call application rounds out an extensive list of functions offered in the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite and is part of a new set of presence-based applications being incorporated into the solution.
